Endowus - February 2020

One of the big news last month was the closure of one of the robo-advisers, Smartly - Singapore robo-adviser Smartly folds business. It was very unfortunate for people that invested with Smartly because they will have to realize their losses at a very bad time. On the other hand, it shows that when these robo-advisers close shop, they will not run away with your money which has always been a big worry for investors.

People also started asking if this will happen to other robo-advisers such as StashAway/Endowus. As far as I can tell, definitely not anytime soon. Similarly, there were telltale signs that Smartly is not doing well. Firstly, they have stopped innovating or introducing new products for a long period of time when StashAway and Endowus have ventured into investing using SRS/CPF. In addition, both StashAway and Endowus have been very active in terms of engaging investors through their blog articles/insights/webinars. Lastly, I think the biggest red flag was when Smartly stopped accepting deposit/investment in November last year.

Take a look at this Seedly Webinar: Why Invest with Endowus? by Sam Rhee, the Chairman and CIO of Endowus.

Risk Profile
Goal type: General wealth accumulation
Risk tolerance: Maximise returns (loss tolerance -60%)

Account Summary

Capital: $4,000.00
Current: $3,704.57

There are quite a few differences as compared to StashAway. Firstly, all the cash has been invested while StashAway keeps 1% of the portfolio in cash. Secondly, the fees are not deducted on a monthly basis. The Access Fee charged by Endowus will be deducted at the end of each quarter as stated in their FAQ.

Asset Allocation

This shows that the number of Dimensional World Equity Fund units (184.9510) owned. It will be great if they actually showed my average price vs the current market price.

Transactions

Bought 12.3460 shares of Dimensional World Equity Fund @ $20.25!

That's all! Overall, I think the statement is pretty straightforward and easy to read.

Anyway, Endowus has reached out and offered a masked referral link for our readers! You will get S$10,000 managed free for 6 months ($20 equivalent) and we will get $20 too!

    1. Hi Chai,

Yes, there's a minimum investment of $10k for Endowus across all the portfolio (Cash, SRS, CPF and Cash Smart).

However, it seems that they only enforce the initial $10k on the Cash portfolio (the last time I tried clicking around the UI). If you look at my latest post (https://kpo-and-czm.blogspot.com/2020/07/endowus-june-2020.html), you can see that the fees are also based on what was invested and not on the minimum $10k.
